Police have been made aware of concerns after a number of letters were sent out to residents in Cumbria in the last month about solar panel systems.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The unsolicited letters claim that warranties on them are due to expire and offer checks.
“Officers are recommending people follow industry advice in these circumstances and contact their original installer for advice.”
