Police are investigating a report of an assault that took place in the early hours of Saturday 29th June in Carlisle.
The incident involved a man and a woman. The woman suffered minor injuries.
A 23-year-old man from Carlisle has been arrested on suspicious of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and released on bail.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The couple were out in Carlisle prior to the incident and police are appealing for witnesses and are looking to identify two specific witnesses.
“The man and woman in question got into a taxi on Court Square, Carlisle by the train station sometime during the early hours. They shared a lift with two unknown persons and all parties left the vehicle in the Denton Holme area. The man was wearing a long sleeved grey polo top and the woman was wearing a white t-shirt and a denim skirt.”
