Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life’s monthly Veteran’s Lunch Club is celebrating its first birthday this July.
Launched in 2018 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the lunch club has become a regular monthly meeting place for local veterans to relax and have a light lunch.
Jules Wooding, Museum Learning Officer, is keen to stress the benefits of the Lunch Club: “The club has gone from strength to strength in the past 12 months. All veterans have been made welcome and the inclusive nature of the club is part of its attraction, people enjoy the informal banter and military chat!
“The lunch club provides a friendly space where veterans can feel comfortable which helps to combat social isolation. The Museum’s commitment to working with veterans is paramount. Having veterans with us every month is a valuable connection between the military community and the Museum.”
The lunch club is open to all veterans from any of the three Services but attendees must book their tickets beforehand. Visit www.CumbriasMuseumOfMilitaryLife.org or call 01228 532774
The next lunch club takes place on Monday 19th August from 1-3pm. Cost is £3.
