The body of a man found on land between High Harrington and Salterbeck, Workington, today (July 17) has been formally identified as Gerard Doran, 91, of Garnet Crescent, Salterbeck.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances at this stage.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Police would like to thank the many thousands of people who shared the appeal for information about Mr Doran’s whereabouts on social media.
“Officers would also like to thank the hundreds who turned out for an organised search today.”
Inspector Annette McClement added: “An overwhelming number of people turned out this morning to help in the search for Mr Doran.
“We are very grateful for their support and would like to thank all those who helped.”
