Today, Tuesday 27 August, a group of forward-thinking independent businesses in and around Pooley Bridge have joined forces to launch the Pooley ‘New’ Bridge Loyalty Lottery. The project aims to reward loyal visitors and locals for their support during the construction of the beautiful new road bridge between September 2019 and Spring 2020.
The Pooley ‘New’ Bridge Loyalty Lottery runs from September 2019 until March 2020 during which time the road bridge will be closed for construction and the valley will be linked by a pedestrian footbridge. Each month, when customers spend in participating businesses (minimum spend applies), they will be entered into that month’s prize draw to win one of nine monthly prizes which range from family tickets for Lowther Castle & Gardens or Ulswater Steamers to a bottle of Cumberland Saucy Gin, Afternoon tea for two, a Pooley Bridge hamper or even money off vouchers for Park Foot Caravan & Camping Park, Waterfoot Park, Hillcroft Park and 1863 Restaurant with Rooms.
Colin Hindle, one of the brains behind the initiative and owner of popular Granny Dowbekin’s Tea Rooms commented: “We’re all very excited about the prospect of a beautiful new road bridge in 2020. However, it is important that while construction is under way we all work together to encourage visitors and locals to come and visit the village, see the build in progress and support our local economy. We really want to reward customers who make that effort and felt that a ‘Loyalty Lottery’ was a great way to do this.”
The monthly draw finishes in March and is followed by a final ‘Golden Ticket’ draw in mid-April. Everyone who received a lottery ticket between September and March will automatically be entered into this final draw so keep hold of your tickets!
The monthly winning ticket numbers will be announced on Ullswater The Lake District Facebook page and on https://www.ullswater.com/getting-to-ullswater/pooley-new-bridge/ on the 15th of the following month e.g. September prize draw announced on 15th October. Winners will have four weeks to get in touch to claim their prize by emailing [email protected] with a photo of their winning ticket
Construction of Pooley ‘New’ Bridge starts in September.
