Carlisle Crown Court

A CARLISLE man is facing a seven-year jail term after clocking up his third class A drugs supply conviction.

Lee Palmer, 47, pleaded guilty to three offences when he appeared over a video link from custody at the city’s crown court.

Palmer admitted possessing quantities of both heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply them, and also possessing criminal property, namely cash.

His offences were all committed in August 7 this year, the court heard.

Nicholas Clarke, defending, conceded Palmer’s punishment would be a “prison sentence of some length” for his latest offending. “He was supplying (drugs) on behalf of his dealer,” Mr Clarke revealed.

The court was told Palmer, of Bousteads Grassing, Carlisle, had two class A drug trafficking convictions on his record.

As a result, he faces a mandatory minimum jail term of seven years.

Palmer’s case was adjourned, and he will receive his punishment at the crown court on a date to be fixed. He was remanded in custody by Judge Nicholas Barker, who told him he would face a “lengthy custodial sentence”.
