A Penrith man has appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court accused of eight-historical sexual offences.
Roland Parker Smith, 71, gave his address as Southwaite Green Cottages, Eamont Bridge, Penrith.
Smith is charged with an allegation of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14, between June 16, 1970 and June 14, 1971, also another similar allegation on a boy under 16, between June 16, 1972 and June 14, 1973.
There are three-accusations between June 16, 1972 and June 14, 1973, also three allegations relating to dates between June 16, 1973 and June 14, 1974, these accusations relate to very serious sexual assaults on a boy under 16-years-of-age, these offences can only be heard at the higher court.
Court papers reveal the allegations took place in Penrith.
District Judge Gerald Chalk adjourned the case until November 31 when Smith will appear at Carlisle Crown Court, no pleas were requested today.
