A WOMAN accused of throwing a bottle which caused injury to a fellow Carlisle nightclubber is to stand trial later this year.
Jade Marie Haughan, 25, faced one charge when she appeared in front of Judge James Adkin at the city’s crown court earlier today (THURS).
This alleges that she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Bethany Johnstone on September 20 last year.
The charge arises out of an incident during which a bottle was thrown inside the Outrageous nightclub, English Street. Miss Johnstone is said to have sustained a facial wound.
During a short court hearing, Haughan pleaded not guilty to the wounding allegation. Her barrister, Anthony Parkinson, told Judge Adkin: “The issue for trial is who threw the bottle.”
Haughan is expected to stand trial in front of a jury at the court court in the week of December 9. It is estimated that hearing will last around two days.
In the meantime Haughan, of Brookside, Carlisle, was granted bail, the conditions for which govern where she lives and state that she must not have any contact with any prosecution witnesses in the case.
