Two youths arrested following a report of a rape of a girl aged under 16 in Appleby on 30 May 2019 have been charged.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The youths, aged 14 and 15 (now both 15) were arrested on the evening of 30 May following a report to police at 8.30pm that night. They are both from the Staffordshire area.
“Detectives have been investigating the alleged offence and yesterday (30 Oct) charged both youths with rape.
“They are due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on 13 November 2019.”
