Firms based in Maryport are being invited to a special event where it is hoped that a new business working group can be launched for the town.

Those who attend the forum at the Wave Centre will receive an update on Allerdale Borough Council’s Maryport Regeneration Scheme and hear from Andrew Marshall, Cockermouth Chamber of Trade chairman, on how businesses have been successfully working together there.

The free forum, to be held on Wednesday November 13, is open to businesses of all shapes and sizes with the aim being to bring traders together to discuss regeneration plans and find a common voice going forward.

Toni Magean, Allerdale’s business engagement manager, will open the event explaining what the idea of the business forum is about while Allerdale’s policy manager (economic growth) will also speak at the forum. Graeme Wilson, programme director for the Maryport Regeneration Scheme will be there to give an update on the project.

Mr Magean said: “I would urge anyone who runs and or is involved in a business in Maryport to come along to the event. Having a strong voice from businesses is going to be crucial in helping to shape the council’s regeneration plans going forward and we hope this can be the start of that.”

The forum starts at 6pm and is scheduled to finish at 7.30pm. The Wave Centre offers free parking.

Spaces for the event are limited and so people are advised to register their attendance online through the following link: https://eventpilot.evolutive.co.uk/events.aspx?siteID=429  or by emailing [email protected].
