A MAN accused of raping a woman in Carlisle is to stand trial early next year.
Aaron Christopher Benjamin Miller, 38, faced three modern day charges when he appeared at the city’s crown court earlier today (WED).
All three allege that he raped the woman.
During a short hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, Miller pleaded not guilty to each of the charges when they were put to him by the court clerk.
Miller’s trial in front of a jury at the crown court – which, it is estimated, will last three to four days – is due to start on April 27.
In the meantime, Miller, of Oakroyd Drive, Brighouse, West Yorkshire, was granted bail by the judge.
Miller was reminded of the need to co-operate with his legal team in the preparation of a statement outlining his defence to the allegations, and confirmed that he understood a number of conditions which are attached to his bail.
