H&H Group PLC Board Member Celebrates Directorship Qualification
Colin Lindsay

Colin Lindsay, Non-Executive Director and Board Member of H&H Group PLC has secured the Certificate in Company Direction qualification from the Institute of Directors (IoD).

This course is specifically designed to equip recipients with the core knowledge to function as a director and to understand the characteristics of an effective board.  The certificate qualification covers the key areas of governance, finance, strategy and leadership, and provides those undertaking the qualification with a foundation in effective leadership.

Since joining the H&H board two years ago, Colin has become integral in supporting the development and planning of business strategies for the Group and its individual operating companies. In securing this qualification from the IoD, which covered everything from the legal duties of being a director to formulating strategic business plans and strategic leadership, it further strengthens Colin’s expertise.

Aside of his role with H&H Group, which he has held for two years, Colin is a well-respected vet with over 26 years practising at Capontree Vets in Brampton.  He has established a wealth of knowledge within the rural sector, not only locally but also internationally.  On receiving news of his successful result, Colin said:

“I am over the moon to have completed the Certificate in Company Direction successfully.  There was a huge amount of information and practical support, which I will to use both at board level and as an individual.

“Study of the four modules of governance, finance, strategy and leadership, allow directors and board members to make more informed decisions in key areas of moving forward as it gives more structure to what is being analysed at business level.  I am now looking to study the next stage at diploma level.”

H&H Group is a progressive and forward-thinking organisation with a Board that demonstrates a diverse range of skills.  Colin’s directorship qualification adds to these and he concludes that: “I found the course to be very inspirational and would recommend it to any director or would-be director as it really does provide the tools to deliver robust business plans and forward-facing strategies.”

The H&H Group employs over 300 members of staff, operates across the North of England and Scotland and has a reputation as one of Cumbria’s most renowned and forward-thinking organisations.  From its head office and central trading base at Rosehill, Carlisle, the Group operates as a holding company with its five successful working businesses encompassing livestock and machinery auctioneers, brokers and valuers, estate agents, auction rooms, commercial printers, chartered surveyors and insurance brokers.
