Theo Weston (BEEP Doctors) & Simon Kirkbride (Partner, Dodd & Co)

Dodd & Co, Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers, have made a Christmas charitable donation for many years now in lieu of sending corporate Christmas cards, and this year the total amount for the chosen charities was an outstanding £5,000!

Towards the end of the year, all of Team Doddies are asked to put forward their suggestions for charities that they would like to support. This year, staff had entered so many charities close to their hearts it was difficult to pick just one! Therefore, with the drive to build extra donations through fundraising, put together with an increased donation from the Partners, Team Evie, The Rock Youth Project, 4Louis and BEEP were chosen as the four Christmas charities for 2019, each receiving an amazing £1,250.

L-R: Lewis Dickinson (Dodds), Fiona Sheridan (The Rock Youth Project) Lucy Winter (Dodds) Tessa Robinson (Dodds), Greg Johnston (Team Evie) Robert Nordon (Dodds), Alison Johnston (Dodds) & Laura Elliott (Dodds).

Team Evie is a charity set up in memory of Evie Johnston. Their mission is to help sick children and their families who face similar challenges to those Evie faced in her all too short life.

The Rock Youth Project aims to provide quality youth work in Currock and Upperby,to meet the needs of the children and young people in this area.

4Louis is a UK charity that works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child.

BEEP Doctors is a Cumbrian based charity, whose team of doctors are on call 24/7 to take emergency medical care to the patient, wherever that may be.

The staff of Dodd & Co organised a range of activities to raise money for their chosen charities including; a ‘Festive Breakfast’, a ‘Doddie Christmas bake-off’ competition, ‘Festive Santa Sandwiches’, an office Christmas Jumper Day and staff even contributed to the totals themselves, in lieu of sending Christmas cards of their own!

The charities were thrilled to hear how much was raised, with Team Evie saying they will be using the funds towards their next batch of emergency parent bags, whilst the Rock Youth Project will put their share towards their newly launched fundraising challenge to raise enough for a brand-new purpose-built facility. 4Louis will either put the amount towards their memory boxes or training midwives, and BEEP doctors will be using the money towards lifesaving emergency medical equipment.

Alison Johnston, Partner at Dodd & Co, said: “We’re amazed at the amount the staff raised this year, and we are thrilled to be able to add a great amount towards the final total. With four charities to fundraise for, Team Doddies really got into the spirit, raising even more money than previous years to give an amount worthy of making a big difference to each charity. We love seeing where the donations go, especially with these wonderful local causes. We are so proud to see our staff work so hard to give to these worthy causes and put together with the contribution from partners in lieu of our Christmas cards; we are delighted to be making a difference again in 2020.”

Once again, Dodd & Co also donated to Carlisle Youth Zone along with other local businesses who agreed to donate in lieu of sending Christmas cards of their own.
