A CARLISLE man will stand trial later this year after denying allegations of wounding, burglary and perverting the course of justice.
Brian Mark Reginald Light, 31, faced four charges when he appeared at the city’s crown court.
Light pleaded not guilty to one charge alleging that he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Anne Lansdowne, on January 4 this year, and a second which alleges he burgled a home at Lawson Street in Carlisle in the same date and stole a quad bike key.
Light, previously of Raffles Avenue, Carlisle, also denies two charges which allege that he did acts tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice.
It is alleged he did so both by telling Ms Lansdowne to “lie to hospital staff” about the cause of an injury, and by sending a text “telling her to lie to police” about the origin of property damage.
Light is now due to stand trial at the crown court in front of a jury. This hearing is set to start on April 22 and, it is estimated, will last around two days.
In the meantime Light was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Davies.
