Staff at the Halifax in Carlisle are celebrating after raising over £6,000 to help the care, support and activities provided at Eden Valley Hospice.

During 2019, staff for the Halifax in Carlisle have organised a range of fundraising events in aid of the hospice. The money raised will help Eden Valley Hospice to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to local people with life limiting illnesses.

Samantha Jones, Halifax Bank Manager, explained, “We have always supported Eden Valley Hospice, as a branch we have been fundraising for more than five years. The hospice is a local charity and people are able to relate to it, some of the staff have connections with the hospice too. Halifax have a national charity, but we like to keep it local too.”

Throughout the year, staff from the Halifax, their family and friends took part in a range of fundraising events including a walk to the summit of Skiddaw, a Christmas hamper and quiz, name the reindeer competition, an afternoon tea and a static bike ride in the branch. Through the kindness and generosity of the fundraisers the Halifax raised £6,409 in aid of Eden Valley Hospice.

Samantha continued, “I’m really proud of the staff for completing the Skiddaw challenge with their family and friends. It was a great accomplishment on what was a grey day weather-wise. I am proud of the achievement of raising a brilliant amount of money in aid of the hospice.

“I would like to thank all our customers for their sponsorship and donations and I would also like to thank the staff’s family and friends who took part in the Skiddaw Walk. The Skiddaw Walk was a huge amount of our fundraising today for the year.”

The money raised by the Halifax in aid of Eden Valley Hospice, will allow the charity to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to local people with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to the patients family, friends and carers.
