Carlisle Youth Zone was joined by Malcolm Wilson, former rally driver and current owner of World Rally team and constructor M-Sport, who talked through his success of building a renowned international business at a recent breakfast event.

The event, which was sponsored by local law firm Baines Wilson LLP, took place on Friday 7th February at Carlisle Youth Zone and saw over 70 businesses attend to listen to Malcolm’s story of building a world-class business in the local area.

Malcolm talked through the benefits and challenges of creating and running M-Sport in Cumbria and his determination for M-Sport not to be situated anywhere else in the world. Following the event, Carlisle Youth Zone also received six new Patrons who have pledged their support to the Youth Zone through a monthly financial contribution and by being involved with the programmes and events that the Youth Zone provide for the city’s young people.

Tom Scaife, Partner at Baines Wilson who conducted the question and answer session with Malcolm said: “Carlisle Youth Zone provides a vital facility for the city and these types of event are important to encourage support from the wider business community. It was fascinating to learn about Malcolm’s experiences as both a rally driver and businessman. Malcolm’s story is an inspiration for young entrepreneurs in the county and beyond.”

Lynsey Buckle at Carlisle Youth Zone said: “It was another great breakfast event at the Youth Zone. Huge thanks to Baines Wilson LLP for sponsoring our Business Breakfast again and to Malcolm Wilson for taking his time to share his story with us. And a huge warm Carlisle Youth Zone welcome to the 6 new patrons who signed up to support Carlisle’s young people as a result. We could not continue to support our city’s young people without the support of local businesses.”

Carlisle Youth Zone aims to develop and fulfil the potential of young people within the Carlisle community.
