Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC), the out of hours provider of primary care services across Cumbria, has announced the appointment of a new Chair, Ian Johnson.

Ian lives locally in Cumbria and comes with a background as a commercial lawyer, senior manager and director within the private sector, and during the last 10 years has been active at board level within the public sector. Most recently, he has chaired two NHS Foundation Trusts in the North West and has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing acute and community health sectors.

As well as chairing and being a member of numerous committees within the NHS Trusts, Ian is also a member of Lancaster University Council and sits on the Audit and Wellbeing and Health and Safety Committees and chairs the Remuneration Committee. He also chairs the Development Board for the new £40 million Health Innovation Campus (HIC) which will open this year with the expansion of the Medical School.

Ian said: “I know how important CHoC is to the communities it serves, and I am very much looking forward to contributing my experience to the strong and forward looking team which has built an organisation regarded as outstanding in delivering care to the population of Cumbria.”

Susan Blakemore, CHoC Chief Executive said: “I am delighted to announce that Ian Johnson is the new Chair of Cumbria Health on Call. Ian brings a wealth of experience following his years working in the legal sector and chairing local NHS Foundation Trusts.

“We look forward to welcoming and working with Ian as CHoC look towards the future of continuing to be an integral part of the healthcare system, working particularly with partners to ensure the right care is delivered to the right patient at the right time.”
