From farm to front door: Simon Rogan and team produce nutritious home meals for Lake District locals

Nutritious take-home meals for the local community, namely the elderly and the most vulnerable residents of Cartmel and the surrounding area, are being cooked up by Simon Rogan and team in the wake of Covid-19.

Taking advantage of the fresh ingredients currently in surplus at Simon’s very own Lake District farm Our Farm, located a mile from the village, chefs from restaurants L’Enclume and Rogan & Co are busy producing a stock of freezer ready, comforting dishes to boost morale and combat the food shortage in supermarkets and local stores.

Simon and the team are working with the local vicar at Cartmel Priory to identify individuals who are the most isolated or at risk, and will be delivering dishes free of charge.

Other residents will pay as little as £5 a dish, the cost of which will cover ingredients and allow for the donation of further meals to vulnerable locals in need.

Meals can be collected or delivered.

The menu is as follows:

Confit chicken with creamed spinach and leeks

Beef and ‘Anvil Beer’ stew

Tomato and chilli pasta

Game sausage with red cabbage and gravy

Cauliflower and chickpea curry

Butterbean cassoulet

Please note, these dishes are subject to availability
