Windermere Car Ferry services will be suspended from 2pm today (Wednesday 25 March) until further notice. This is due to a shortage of staff who operate The Mallard.
The health and safety of ferry staff and our passengers is always a top priority for Cumbria County Council. We have taken the difficult decision to take The Mallard out of service because insufficient numbers of operational staff are currently available to safely run the ferry due to COVID 19.

The Mallard is a vessel that can carry 15 cars and more than 100 passengers across England’s longest lake between Bowness and Far Sawrey.
