Barrow police are investigating an attempted house burglary on Aberdeen Street at 3.55am Tuesday 14th April.
The householder was disturbed by noises of someone trying the back door.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “On arrival police saw a figure, described to be a male with a hooded top covering their head, who jumped from the back-yard wall and ran off on foot.
“An extensive search of the area was made but unfortunately the person wasn’t traced.
“Damage has been caused to the back door.
“There have been no similar recent reports and it’s believed to be a random attempt. Local residents are advised to be vigilant around security and report any suspicious activity.”
