Allerdale’s tourism breakfast briefing goes online

The latest edition of Visit Allerdale’s popular tourism breakfast briefings has moved online – giving local businesses the chance to keep up-to-date despite the issues presented by the coronavirus.

Over the last 18 months Allerdale Borough Council’s Place Development Team, under the Visit Allerdale banner, has been holding quarterly breakfast briefings at different locations in the area.

The briefings have allowed Allerdale-based tourism businesses to find out about the latest developments in the sector, as well as being able to receive updates on the work of the council, highlight and share best practice and provide a networking opportunity.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak the team has decided to do things a little differently and bring businesses as much useful information as possible online.

The briefing is now live on https://visitallerdale.co.uk/breakfast-briefing/ and contains essential information about how to access Government support and funding, a business survival toolkit provided by accountancy firm Lamont Pridmore, a speech from our tourism portfolio holder, the chance to have your say on what Allerdale’s priorities should be and more.

John Cook, Allerdale’s tourism portfolio holder, said: “Under normal circumstances I’d have been looking forward to speaking to as many tourism businesses at our next briefing, but unfortunately we’ll have to delay those face-to-face conversations for now.

“However, it’s crucial at this time that businesses get the information they need and it is more important than ever that we hear what people have to say. So that’s why the Visit Allerdale team has worked hard to provide this briefing and gets this important conversation going.”

Businesses considering reopening in line with the Government’s advice can also take advantage of a range of information and links on the council’s website at https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/coronavirus/reopening-guidance/. The webpage contains links, guidance and the latest information from Government and other agencies about reopening.
