Police are appealing for information from the public as part of an investigation into an incident of rape which was reported to have occurred in Penrith.
The report which is being investigated relates to an incident which occurred between 3pm and 5pm on Friday (19 June) behind the Dog Beck pub and The Furniture Store on Southend Road.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The victim, a man in his late teens, is being supported by officers.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Belshaw said: “Incidents such as these are rare and we would like to reassure the public that a team of detectives are thoroughly investigating this report to establish the full circumstances.
“A man has been arrested and subsequently bailed pending our enquiries.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed two men in the area at that time of have any information on this incident. We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 3pm and 5pm.”
