Seagull shot in Whitehaven

POLICE are investigating an incident where a seagull has been fatally injured near to the Oval estate in Whitehaven at around 6pm on the 29th May.

The gull appears to have been shot.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “All species of gull are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 making it an offence to kill or injure them, or damage, destroy their nests, without a licence to do so.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 251 of 29th May. Alternatively, you can attend Whitehaven Police Station or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
