United Utilities has launched a range of free online courses to help potential apprentices prepare for interviews and job applications.

The North West water firm has worked with The Launch Group to create the learning modules and guides to help young people successfully apply for apprenticeship roles.

The company’s own apprenticeship scheme is currently open for applications until Sunday 20th September 2020.

The new modules are free, open to anyone, and available on https://thelaunchgroup.co.uk/united-utilities-upskill/

The modules include:

  • CV writing & development – A 14 module course aimed at providing an insight into how to successfully build and design your own CV, customised for any job application.
  • Interview skills & techniques – Guidance on how to prepare, perform and impress an employer at interview including what an interviewer is looking for, the types of questions you will be asked and how you can approach an interview with confidence.
  • A guide to interview assessment days – Study material that teaches learners how to successfully negotiate assessment days. The course has five main components with additional bonus content on how to create and deliver presentations, which commonly form a big part of any assessment day.
  • Application forms – What to look out for and how to ensure your application exceeds the required standard needed in order to progress to the next stage of the Interview process.

Katie Moffatt, United Utilities’ social mobility manager, said: “As part of our company social mobility agenda, we’re committed to providing enrichment, educational and employability opportunities to all communities across the North West.

“We recognise now is a time when people particularly need some extra support, which is why, for the very first time, we’ve teamed up with recruitment company, The Launch Group, to create a range of learning modules, employability related courses and informative guides for potential apprentices, to help them be as prepared as possible for the application process.

“Whether it’s someone applying for an apprenticeship with us, or a role elsewhere, we want to give young people some extra support and guidance during a difficult time. These courses will enhance applications and give applicants the best chance of finding employment,” she added.
