The Government has given £3.1m to the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust to help upgrade its hospitals, including Furness General.
It is part of a £600 million package for hospitals across England to undertake the work, which could include building new or refurbishing buildings to deliver key services, upgrades to electrical infrastructure, improvements to ventilation systems, work to improve fire safety and the replacement of hospital lifts.
The work will be completed by March 2021.
Simon Fell, MP for Barrow and Furness, said: “I am delighted that Furness General will benefit from Government funding to carry out vital maintenance work over the coming months.”
