Four female border collies, valued at £13,500, have been stolen in a raid at Brough, near Kirkby Stephen.
Police are investigating the burglary which occurred between 3pm on Wednesday and 12.20pm on Thursday, in the area of Musgrave Lane.
Entry was gained to a property, causing damage in the process.
Police say the dogs are all black and white sheepdogs.
One is described as having a yellow colour under her chest and another dog has one brown eye and one blue.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information on the dogs whereabouts, anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch.
