Captain Sir Tom Moore becomes Herdy hero

Cumbria’s Herdy brand has paid tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore by creating a poster depicting the centenarian as a cartoon sheep.

The home and giftware brand created the poster to honour Sir Tom’s fundraising efforts.

It shows Sir Tom, who is currently in hospital with coronavirus, in the style of the company’s colourful Herdy characters, standing on a path with a clear blue sky and sun in the background, overlaid with the text “The sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away”, referencing a famous quote by the retired army captain.

A representative of The Herdy Company said: “During the first national lockdown we had been running a campaign on our social media encouraging people to share stories of their local lockdown heroes, Herdy Heroes.

“We then turned these nominations into Herdy characters as a free downloadable eCard.

“When we heard the story of Captain Tom Moore and his fundraising we were moved by this man’s dedication.

“We are offering the print for free so that people could download it, print it off, and hopefully it will help keep people’s spirits up.

“Like everyone else, we are saddened to learn that Captain Sir Tom Moore has been taken to hospital recently, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

The printable poster is offered for free as a download from the company’s Herdy Freebies website.
