Story Homes has appointed a new non-executive director.
Mark Cook joins the housebuilder’s board today.
With over 40 years’ experience in the housebuilding industry, Mr Cook joins Story from Persimmon Homes, where he spent over 27 years in various senior roles, including managing director for the North West, Lancashire and Cumbria.
Most recently, he held the position of Persimmon’s group sales and marketing director before his retirement from the company on December 22.
He also served as chairman of the HBF North West during a turbulent 12-month period for the housebuilding industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said: “Having worked at a national plc for almost three decades I was delighted to accept this role and begin a new chapter with Story Homes.
“I am looking forward to working with Fred Story, chief operating officer Colin Wood and the senior management team to advise and support the company as it continues to build on its success.”
Mr Story, owner and chairman of Story Homes, said: “Having known Mark for over 20 years I am very pleased to welcome him to our business.
“He is a proven leader in our industry, and we will undoubtedly benefit from his extensive experience, guidance and strong track record in the housebuilding sector.
“The last 12 months has not been without its challenges, but the construction industry remains resilient and our business has responded superbly to the crisis.
“There is still a strong demand for our homes, and we are focussed on growing Story Homes while ensuring our build quality and customer experience are still top priority.
“Mark’s appointment to the Story Homes board demonstrates our ongoing commitment to operational excellence; it is vital that we have the right mix of people in place to lead our business and achieve our goals, and I believe Mark will be a valuable addition to our team as we prepare for further growth and success.”
