St Mary’s Hospice

Ulverston’s St Mary’s Hospice home service is set to get a £50,000 boost.

The cash has come from the Pappagallino Flow Through Fund via Cumbria Community Foundation.

St Mary’s Hospice at Home team provides specialist end of life nursing care for adults in the last weeks and days of life, who wish to be cared for and stay at home and support for their families.

Its nursing team is able to spend time with individual patients and their families, building up a trusting relationship, and working with the patient to ensure their social, emotional and practical needs are being met, as well as their physical needs and symptom management.

St Mary’s Hospice trusts and grants officer, Ali Alger, said: “In these unprecedented times our incredible hospice at home team are still supporting patients in their own homes and responding to an increasing demand for their care.

“This generous and timely grant will help ensure that the nurses can continue to support patients and their families across South Lakes and Furness, delivering free care to those who need it, when they need it most.”

To find out more about the hospice at home service, visit www.stmaryshospice.org.uk or call the hospice on 01229 580 305.
