A man has admitted assaulting two NHS workers while in a north Cumbria psychiatric unit.
James Anthony Fargher, 32, faced two charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.
During a short hearing in front of a judge, Fargher pleaded guilty to assaulting two emergency workers – both female NHS staff members – on 6th January this year.
His lawyer, Jeff Smith, revealed that the offences occurred while he was in the Hadrian unit at Carlisle’s Carleton Clinic.
The judge, Recorder Philip Grundy, asked whether a psychiatrist report was required before the sentence was passed.
However, Mr Smith replied that these issues could be addresses in the coming weeks by the probation service if an officer was granted access to the defendant’s medical records while compiling background information.
Recorder Grundy adjourned the case and Fargher, previously of The Sands, Appleby, but latterly c/o the Carleton Clinic, Carlisle, is due to be sentenced on March 17.
In the meantime he was remanded in custody.
