Police are appealing for information following the report of a suspicious item in Carlisle yesterday.
Officers were made aware that a large gas canister was found on the carriageway of Caldew Bridge at around 3.50pm.
A police cordon was put in place and the roads was closed while emergency services and recovery services attended the scene.
Hardwicke Circus was also closed while recovery took place. The item was safely removed.
Police would like to hear from anyone with information regarding this incident.
