A Met Office weather warning for rain remains in force for most of Cumbria, as the county deals with a period of heavy rainfall.
The yellow warning, the lowest of three levels of alert, will be in force for the whole of Cumbria until 8pm today (February 24), with the exception of the area south of Ulverston and part of Grange-over-Sands.
What to expect:
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely;
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer;
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
The Met Office says: “Heavy rain will continue during Tuesday night with moderate to heavy rain persisting for much of Wednesday before easing during the evening. A further 15-30 mm of rain is expected quite widely across the warning area with a further 60-80 mm over some high ground.”
