Contact advice during North Cumbria NHS strike

The North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is advising those who need to contact wards in light of today’s strike.

Today more than 150 porters, cleaners, switchboard and catering staff at the Cumberland Infirmary are to begin strike action following a dispute over pay.

Yesterday the NCIC NHS trust encouraged outsourcing company Mitie that provides staff to its hospitals to resolve the dispute.

While the strike is ongoing, the NHS is keen to advise people about how to contact a hospital ward at the trust.

A spokeswoman for the trust said: “If anyone needs to contact a ward at either the Cumberland Infirmary or the West Cumberland Hospital to speak to their relative or staff then all direct numbers are available on the Trust’s website.

“The switchboard is operating a reduced service while the strike is taking place and therefore you are advised to call the wards directly.”
