A Cumbria-based accountancy firm has acquired a Hexham practice.

Armstrong Watson, which is headquartered in Carlisle and has offices in Penrith, Cockermouth and Kendal, has acquired Hexham-based Patricia J Arnold & Co.

The merger, which took effect on 1st March 2021, sees Armstrong Watson’s 16-strong portfolio continue to grow across the north and comes just six month after its West Cumbria office was relocated from Workington to Marvejols Business Park in Cockermouth to meet growing demand.

It also follows the firm’s expansion in Newcastle to larger premises – just two years after opening an office in the city – and the acquisition of Eura Audit in Northallerton last February.

Patricia J Arnold & Co owner Tricia Arnold has joined Armstrong Watson as a consultant, along with 14 staff who will continue to provide tax and accounting services to existing clients.
