Firms give youngsters insight into world of work

Youngsters will be able to get an insight into the world of work at a series of virtual events from Monday.

Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership’s Careers Hub, Speakers for Schools and local employers are set to host the events at The Queen Katherine School in Kendal from Monday until Friday,

Each of the five days will focus on a different sector and will be available to students in year 10 and 11, providing careers insights to over 250 young people at The Queen Katherine School.

The days are also set to give local employers an opportunity to see and experience Speakers for Schools, a national charity with a mission to help level the playing field for young people of all backgrounds.

Businesses and organisations taking part include Kendal Mountain Festival, Plain Creative, nucleargraduates,  Adamedia,  Graythwaite Adventure, Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, Hargreaves Enterprises, Mountain Goat Tours, Lake District National Park,  Story Contractors, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Orsted, NTS Golbal, Kaefer,  PPM, The Cumberland Building Society, Kaveney HR, GKM Solicitors, Lake District Adventuring, Herdy, Westmorland Group, Watch this Space, Future Fixers, TEG, Lakeland and Victoria Candles.
