Up to £500 is available to creatives who would appreciate the support to develop their ideas.

Barra Culture is working with individuals, groups and communities across the Barrow to discover creative opportunities and develop new projects with local people where they live.

Boosting Barrow’s Creativity is about supporting communities to co-create new work that is relevant, authentic and genuinely participatory for people living in Barrow.

They also offer support to help communities to develop their skills and confidence in accessing and developing creative and cultural activities.

You could try out a new craft skill, set up a choir, start a garden gallery with your neighbours, produce a set of how-to guides and virtual workshops, create a photography exhibition online or a creative writing and storytelling group.

What is important to Barra Culture is that applicants are involved in the design and delivery of the project and that it reaches people who may not normally have this kind of creative opportunity.

How Barra Culture can support you:

  • They will connect you with one of their team who can offer advice on how to get your project started, connect you with other local community groups, organisations, creatives and artists and help to promote your project and activity to engage others in your area, where relevant.
  • They can provide small amounts of cash (up to £500) to help you to try something new or test out a new project idea with your local community.

For more information and to start our conversation about your creative ideas, call or message Anna on 07871 602 403 or contact her by email at [email protected]
