A cocaine and cannabis dealer caught with a stash of illegal drugs potentially worth almost £50,000 has been jailed for four years.
Edward Charles Brand, 25, was seen with two other men in Carlisle on the afternoon of March 8, and initially tried to flee when officers approached.
Brand was found with small amounts of cannabis and cocaine in his possession, along with digital weighing scales and cash.
A larger consignment was found at his Briar Bank home in the city, including almost half a kilo of unadulterated cocaine potentially worth around £41,000 which was still wrapped in its original packaging.
Police also found a machete in a kitchen cupboard.
Brand – a father to a young son with a fiancée and his own business, admitted possessing both cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.
He had received a suspended prison term in 2018, for his role in a conspiracy to supply the class B drug.
Jailing Brand today after hearing about his personal circumstances, Judge Andrew Jefferies QC spoke of him being caught “bang to rights”, and added: “I take the view and sentence you on the basis you are a street dealer who, for one reason or another, has come into possession of a large quantity of drugs for onward supply.”
