Three leading businesswomen will help mentor youngsters in Carlisle.

Antonette Cullen, HR manager at Clark Door, Amanda Wharton, head of client development with Talento Group, and Sue Kaveney, owner of Kaveney HR Solutions, have been appointed as enterprise advisors with Cumbria Careers Hub,

They will work with Carlisle College, and the city’s Trinity School and Richard Rose Central Academy and use their skills, business experience and networks to help them to develop a strong careers education programme that supports all students.

Cumbria Careers Hub is a partnership of schools, colleges, employers and careers education professionals.

Launched in January 2019, the programme now supports over 40 secondary schools across Cumbria to deliver careers education.

Working alongside the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC), the hub brings together employers with schools and colleges to support careers education and enable young people to engage with employers and experience the world of work.

Hub manager, Cath Dutton, said: “I am delighted that Antonette, Amanda and Sue have joined the hub as Enterprise Advisors, and I am looking forward to seeing great partnerships develop with their respective schools and college, creating an outstanding careers education programme.

Antonette said: “I am looking forward to sharing the knowledge and skills I have acquired through my multi-sector HR experience.

“This is a great opportunity to support the local community and improve the careers programme for young people within Cumbria.”

Sue said: “I am incredibly passionate about learning and retaining skills here in Cumbria, and the enterprise adviser role enables me to support my passion to ensure every person in our county is aware of the opportunities available to them.”

Amanda said: “One of my main drives is helping people to elevate and change their lives for the better, and this is a core reason why I became an advisor, to help make a difference.

“All children can achieve when given support and guidance, and I am looking forward to putting my knowledge and experience to good use helping the students at Carlisle College shape their futures.”
