Gretna Green Ltd has been recognised in the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

The firm was recognised in the international trade category for its short-term growth in global sales over between 2017 and 2020, relative to its business size and sector.

Gretna Green is an internationally recognised, global five star visitor destination and brand, alongside which Gretna Green Online exports a range of Scottish and UK products to over 55 countries.

Shipments include Scottish food, cashmere, gifts, clothing, clan to Highland wear and a growing range of own-brand gifts associated with the love and romance of Gretna Green.

Alasdair Houston, chairman, said: “To win the UK’s most prestigious business award is a real morale boost for our team at a time when it has never felt more welcome, and it makes us even more determined to continue to elevate our brand, showcase Gretna Green to the world and celebrate and promote the unique culture of Scottish and UK tourism.

“This prestigious award belongs to all my colleagues at all levels and in all divisions in our family business whose talents, commitment and loyalty I appreciate and for which I am grateful every day.”

Isabel Rhodes, chief executive, commented: “We are so proud and honoured to win this award and to be recognised for the achievements of the team here at Gretna Green, developing our business growth and our brand presence internationally.

“Our ongoing growth continues to support our current and future job opportunities within the community.”
