Five fire engines were called to a blaze involving a three-storey derelict buidling.
Crews were called to Antalya takeaway on Duke Street in Barrow and 10 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire.
The road was shut both ways between Abbey Road at Ramsden Square and Cornwallis Street.
Teams were at the scene for more than three hours.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service was called just after 2pm.
