Footage has been released of a new boathouse in the Lake District.
To mark English Tourism Week (which runs until Sunday), Hill of Oaks Lodge and Caravan Park hosted a visit from Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron to show him some of their newest facilities and reflect on one of the toughest ever years for the tourism and hospitality sector.
English Tourism Week is all about celebrating the importance, value and contribution the sector makes to the UK economy, and bosses at the site near Windermere were inspired by the British Holiday and Home Parks Association to help highlight Cumbria’s wide range of touring, tenting, glamping and holiday caravan parks.
Mr Farron’s tour of Hill of Oaks included a sneak peek at the new nautically-themed Waterbird Boathouse, as well as the park’s accessible Lakeside glamping pod and their lakeview apartments.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron said: “Hill of Oaks is such an inspiring place to visit. It is a really important local employer and it’s typical of the Lakes tourism businesses that have been so responsible all the way through the pandemic and are so determined to fight back now that the restrictions are easing. I’m so proud of everything the team have done in the face of such challenging circumstances.”
Head of parks at Lake District Estates, George Kemp, added: “Throughout the COVID-19 crisis of 2020 and into 2021, Tim Farron has been there for his constituents. Tim has been our voice and that of our colleagues within the tourism sector, lobbying on behalf of British Holiday and Home Parks Association membership located in South Lakeland.
“Every request we sent from he responded to and followed up many times after he had spoken in Parliament about issues that had been raised directly by the Holiday Park industry. We thought it a fitting tribute to honour his dedication and commitment to the tourism and hospitality sector to thank him in person and were delighted when he accepted our invitation to visit the Park.”
