John Stevenson MP

Carlisle’s MP is encouraging primary schools in Carlisle to participate in the Mathematics World Cup.

John Stevenson has written to the headteachers of local primary schools within his constituency, to promote involvement in the initiative. The free event organised by Numberfit in partnership with the UCL Institute of Education is running between June 14 and June 18 and is aimed at improving the mental and physical health of primary school children, as well as their education.

“This event has a number of academic benefits and is a fun way for primary school children to get involved in a global competition focusing on mathematical skills,” said John.

“I do hope some of the schools in the Carlisle constituency take up the offer to get involved and I wish them every success in the competition to be Mathematics Word Champion.”

Further information about the initiative can be found at www.mathematicsworldcup.com
