
Coronavirus cases in Cumbria are on the rise as we compile a list of the areas with the highest infection rates.
The case rate per 100,000 has risen from 76 per 100,000 for the week ending June 18 to 128 per 100,000 for the seven-day period ending five days later.
This is an almost doubling of cases in less than a week, with 641 new weekly cases compared with 382 five days earlier.
It comes as Cumbria County Council’s public health team ramped up testing across the county, with everyone aged 12-30 asked to get a PCR test regardless of whether they had symptoms.
There were no deaths where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate in Cumbria in the latest figures, which are for the week ending June 11.
