A new play with original music will be the first live performance to take place on the Rosehill stage this year after months of closure following another lockdown.
Fly Half, which tells the story of a rugby-playing steel worker from Wales, is written by and stars Gary Lagden, directed by Geoff Bullen and features original songs by Gareth Moulton.
Set in an industrial town, it’s a celebration of working-class families who head out to the game each week and stand pitch-side with pride, supporting their local grassroots team.
The performance takes place at the Moresby theatre, near Whitehaven, at 7.30pm on Saturday July 10.
Deanne Shallcross, Rosehill’s executive director, said: “We’re all excited to be welcoming the Fly Half crew to our stage for the first live performance at Rosehill this year.
“We reopened our doors to audiences for films and recorded events in May, which was fantastic, and this is the next step in our recovery process after an incredibly challenging time.”
Following the Government’s recent announcement that restrictions would remain in place beyond June 21, audiences over the next few weeks will continue to be socially distanced, the theatre said.
