A West Cumbrian operatic society will stage a reboot of a production to celebrate its 120th anniversary.
Workington Amateur Operatic Society will perform Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat in October at the town’s Carnegie Theatre.
The group’s junior section performed the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, which is based on a well-known Bible story, over a decade ago.
The production will include members from the senior, junior and mini sections of the group and in total, the cast and crew number over 100 people aged between four and 80-plus.
Andrew McMinn, who played one of Joseph’s brothers in the original production, will return to the stage in the title role.
He will wear the famous technicolour dreamcoat and perform songs including Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door.
Other key roles will be played by Jasmin Smith as the Narrator, Tony McGee as Pharaoh, and Graeme Wishart as Jacob.
The society said the cast included several award-winners.
Director Jennifer Hawley-McGee is working alongside choreographer Robyn Miller and head of wardrobe Karen Pirt to bring the society’s age groups together.
Jennifer said: “WAOS is a big, active society, so it’s wonderful to do a show that allows us to have everyone from ages four to 80-plus involved.
“With so many people working on stage and off, it really is a team effort and extra special in our 120th year.”
The show will run at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington from October 14 to October 17, including a Saturday matinee.
Tickets are available from the Carnegie Theatre box office on 01900 602122.
