Cumbria Constabulary probe after a man in his 50s was taken to hospital after an assault in Carlisle

A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital after an assault in Carlisle.

Police are probing the assault, which took place on Fusehill Street at about 10.50pm on Saturday.

The man suffered injuries to his head and was taken to hospital. He was discharged the same night.

Officers are keen to trace a white man, in his forties, who was about 5ft 6ins tall, average build, with brown, short hair with a receding hairline. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are asking any witnesses to come forward and for anyone who was driving by at the time to check for dashcam footage that may help the inquiry.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 278 of July 3. You can also call 101 and ask for DC 2224 Minnion.

Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers, completely anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
