The MP for Penrith has welcomed an announcement about the creation of NR Training.

Newton Rigg Ltd, a community organisation set up to fight for the future of land-based education in Cumbria, revealed today that the new land-based training provider would deliver a growing range of courses from September, with the first wave of courses in horticulture and advanced dairy management now open to applicants.

Pivotal to the launch is a collaboration with Lowther Estate that will see the expert-led NR Training School of Horticulture begin running courses in the picturesque surroundings of Lowther Castle and Gardens this September.

Dr Neil Hudson said: “I very much welcome the recent creation of NR Training by Newton Rigg Ltd; I have met with their directors and advisors on several occasions and am really excited that their vision for the protection and growth of Cumbrian land-based education is coming to fruition.

“This is another piece of good news after The Ernest Cook Trust secured Low Beckside Farm and another jigsaw piece in securing a future for a new Newton Rigg.”
