A big crowd is expected at Fitz Park, Keswick on Sunday for the two semi-finals of the Cumbria Bowling Association’s County Triples competition.
Some of the best players in the county will be in action when the two matches will run in tandem from 11am.
There will then be a short break to be followed by the final for the T Sibson Trophy.
In the first semi-final, Workington will take on Wigton Park with each triple containing some outstanding talent.
Current England international David Forster (Workington)– who recently won the Champion of Champions event at the same venue – leads the west Cumbrian challenge.
The vastly experienced Stephen Farish, a former England international who has competed for his country in the Commonwealth Games and who won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, heads the Wigton Park line-up.
In Forster’s triple is James Park, a junior international, who has been offered an England trial.
The other semi-final is between trios led by Anthony Little (Courtfield) and Trevor Taylor (Wigton Park).
It was Little and his team who overcame the challenge of the Fitz Park side by the narrowest of margins, 16-15 in last week’s quarter final.
The game went right down to the wire and the last of the 18 ends with the visitors holding a two shot advantage after trailing for most of the match.
If the Keswick trio had won the match it would have meant the big finals day would not have been held at Fitz Park but at the Croft, Cockermouth.
