Whitehaven skipper Marc Shackley will sit out their Championship game at Newcastle Thunder tomorrow.
Shackley took a knock on his knee during last week’s narrow win over Oldham and will miss out as a precaution.
But coach Gary Charlton will have the services of southern hemisphere pair Lachlan Walmsley and Nikau Williams who were absentees against the Roughyeds.
Both have now recovered from COVID-19 and have trained during the week.
Both players have fitted in well since arriving from Australia and Walmsley,in particular, has been outstanding to enhance his claims for a Scotland call-up for the World Cup.
Sunday’s game is sure to be emotional for the Whitehaven team and officials as they go into action for the first time since the death of hugely popular strapman Vic Semple yesterday.
