A Lake District takeaway has been given the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice award.
Thai Kitchen in Lakeland, based in Kendal, was given the award after racking up great reviews on the travel site over the last 12 months.
“When lockdown first hit we quickly incorporated a COVID secure takeaway service to the people of Kendal. Our premises, on Dockray, were locked down to create a safe environment for our customers and staff,” said Amporn Whitehead, chef and partner in the business.
“This quickly became our drive-thru and we discovered that by taking and paying for orders over the phone it meant that the only point of contact was when we brought the food out to our customers.
“We erected one of our previous street food stalls outside the premises, so keeping social distancing while delivering food to our customers.
“We were one of the few food establishments in Kendal that was working non-stop through lockdown, at times the demand was so great that I was cooking over 150 meals a night.
“Our priority is always the customer, and to create the best quality food we can.”
